Yacht Charter Sardinia
In north Sardinia the Costa Smeralda is outstandingly beautiful. It was chosen by the Aga Khan for its picture-book coastline of bays of white sand and turquoise sea, sheltered by rocky headlands overlooking crystal clear waters. It quickly became – and remains – an exclusive haven for the rich and famous…
Bonifacio – Lavezzi islands – Porto Vecchio
Start your luxury yacht charter exploration of Sardinia from Bonifacio in southern Corsica…not only is Bonifacio only a few hours cruising from Sardinia, it also provides a fantastic start to any charter of the Costa Smeralda and avoids up to 22% Italian VAT by starting your charter in French territorial waters!
Bonifacio is a narrow peninsula of white limestone that is ideal if you’re looking for a rare natural and picturesque port. The beautiful haute ville offers winding streets with Genoese architecture, and rises out of sheer, weathered cliffs. Its natural port offers plenty of restaurants and shops, and is frequented in the summer by yachts from throughout the Med. Spend the early evening exploring Bonifacio and dining on the terrace at the fabulous Caravelle restaurant before spending the night in the port.
Set sail in the morning for Porto Vecchio, visiting the Lavezzi Islands en-route (6nm, ¾ hour). Anchor up and explore these granite islands before a spot of lunch, then spend the afternoon sailing up the east coast of southern Corsica.
Holidays to Porto-Vecchio offer the tourist a unique mix of both idyllic unspoilt beaches along Corsica’s southern coast and breathtaking mountain scenery. It also boasts an historical Old Town bustling with vibrant cafes, bars, restaurants, designer boutiques, hotels and a well-equipped marina attracting international yachts.
The beaches around Porto-Vecchio are simply stunning and count the world-famous Palombaggia and Santa Guilia amongst their number. All have pearly white sand and glittering turquoise sea, surrounded by lush countryside. With shallow waters, they are ideal for families. For those who are willing to venture inland, the nearby mountainous Alta Rocca region provides an endless supply of things to do and see with its gorges, rivers and waterfalls. Here there are opportunities for mountain walking, rock climbing, swimming in rock pools, picnicking, horse riding, quad biking and visiting traditional Corsican mountain villages for relaxing lunches.
Porto Vecchio – Maddalena
Head out to the Madalenas, a beautiful set of islands just between Corsica and Sardinia. This area is perfect for anchoring, and passing the day away with totally unspoilt surroundings…it really is like another world. Declared a nation park reserve many years ago, the crystal clear waters are home to dolphins which you may catch a glimpse of during your trip. The scenery here is spectacular with plenty of hidden coves and stunning bays to discover.
Maddalena – Baja Sardinia
Located between Porto Cervo (the heart of the Emerald Coast – the Costa Smeralda, which is about 4 km away and can be reached by car within few minutes) and Palau, Baja Sardinia – or Baia Sardinia – is one of the most popular locations in Costa Smeralda. It enjoys the wonderful view of the Maddalena Archipelago which you will have visited the day before and is the perfect place for luxury sailing in Sardinia.
Sport, sea and night life – The right combination of wind and currents promotes water sports, especially windsurfing and sailing. Clear emerald waters, small coves and precious views of unspoiled and wild nature welcomes you to this corner of Sardinia. In the evening, you will just have to choose among the many restaurants and cafés that enliven the nightlife coast.
