The Yacht

CINDERELLA IV is a modern interpretation of a classic two-house deck layout. Vitters Shipyard Tripp design, Donald Starkey and Jens Cornelsen were chosen by this experienced owner to create a 128’ sloop that fulfilled his quest for long sailing passages to unseen places. Green Marine manufactured the hull at Southampton England out of pre-preg carbon sandwich.

This blue water cruiser has been conceived for private use and charter, therefore the interior layout focuses on four, equally sized, generous cabins set in the front half of the boat. Ample entertainment areas are provided both inside and out with an upper and lower salon, and a very large and well-protected guest cockpit. The crew quarters occupy the aft section of the yacht with a large galley, spacious crew mess and three cabins. This area leads to an aft cuddy for navigation and watch, opening to the aft working cockpit. This arrangement is both ideal for charter work and very practical for life at sea.

Interior styling by Donald Starkey is a modern detailed interpretation of the traditional styling of the owner’s previous yacht interior, also by Donald Starkey some 17 years ago and so allows for lightweight construction methods. The layout reflects simplicity and functionality, combining warm timbers with light toned upholstered furnishings and wall paneling to create an ambience ideal for entertaining and relaxing. To enhance the enjoyment of life at anchor, ambitious sound levels were set for this project, and an overnight silent mode is available thanks to a bank of lithium batteries.

The styling of the boat updates the classic deckhouses by placing strong emphasis on all-around views and sheltered areas. Sailing performance is at the heart of this design and all efforts have been made to ensure dynamic performance through a modern sail plan, a lifting keel, a light interior and a rational approach to weight control in systems design and construction, including a Carbon Hull mast and deck houses along with Carbon Stays and PBO Rigging.
